چکیده

Traditional memory systems based on memory technologies such as DRAM are fast approaching their cost and power limits. Alternative memory technologies such as Phase Change Memory (PCM) are being widely researched as a scalable, costand power-efficient alternative for DRAM. However, a PCM memory cell has a limited endurance of 10− 10 writes, resulting in an ideal lifetime of only a few years which can be reduced further due to the non-uniform distribution of write traffic to the main memory. Wear leveling algorithms have been proposed to ensure uniform distribution of traffic to the main memory. However, this limited write endurance poses an easy to exploit loophole for attackers to bring the system down. A malicious application can perform multiple writes to the same memory location (PCM cell) and quickly cross the endurance limit for the cell. We show that wear leveling algorithms, while meeting their objective for non-malicious applications, do not help to protect the system from this exploit. If PCM based systems are to be adopted for future systems, it is critically important that this security hole is addressed. In this paper, we define what constitutes as anomalous behavior for PCM and, in general, for memories with limited write endurance. Once an application is established to exhibit anomalous behavior, solutions can be built on top of it to prevent any reduction in the lifetime of the system due to the main memory reaching its write endurance limit.

The phase transformation phenomenon due to the crystallographic change of shape memory alloys subjected to mechanical or thermal loading is very complicated. Regarding the thermo-mechanical coupling effects in shape memory alloys, in case of high  loading rates, heat generation/absorption during the forward/reverse transformation, will lead in temperature-dependent variation and consequent...

Anomalous dispersion behavior of multiple-wave X-ray diffraction at absorption edges: determination of phase change at resonance.

The effects of anomalous dispersion (resonance) on multiple reflection of x rays and their interference in crystals at atomic absorption edges are studied. Intensity ratios of two inversion-symmetry-related multiple diffractions at or near absorption edges exhibit highly phase-sensitive profiles with strong asymmetric characteristics, unlike those far from the edges. A new resonance perturbatio...

Modeling Gasoline Consumption Behaviors in Iran Based on Long Memory and Regime Change

In this study, for the first time, we model gasoline consumption behavior in Iran using the long-term memory model of the autoregressive fractionally integrated moving average and non-linear Markov-Switching regime change model. Initially, the long-term memory feature of the ARFIMA model is investigated using the data from 1927 to 2017. The results indicate that the time series studied has a lo...

Anomalous phonon behavior in the high-temperature shape-memory alloy Ti50Pd50â‹TMxCrx

Ti50Pd50−xCrx is a high-temperature shape-memory alloy with a martensitic transformation temperature strongly dependent on the Cr composition. Prior to the transformation, a premartensitic phase is present with an incommensurate modulated cubic lattice with wave vector of q0=(0.22,0.22,0). The temperature dependence of the diffuse scattering in the cubic phase is measured as a function temperat...

Single phase polycrystalline Gd1-xPrxBa2Cu3O7-δ samples with x=0.05 , 0.10, and 0.15 have been prepared by standard solid state reaction technique and characterized by XRD and SEM analysis. The electrical resistivity, Hall effect and magnetoresistance measurements have been on the samples. The electrical resistivity measurements indicate a reduction of transition temperature (Tc) and an incre...
